TAJ MAHAL: Dancing the Blues
Private Music
Having
already proved his genius, Taj Mahal joins the ranks of his contemporaries
in making overproduced yuppie blues. It is, however, well-documented that
as recently as 1991 he was still making good music; check out the Mule
Bone CD, or even parts of his last solo LP, Like Never Before. This
time around, Taj's eclecticism is reduced to the standard blues sound of
our era. Too many cooks spoil the mix. (Carrie McLaren)
