THE KNUCKLEHEDZ: Strictly Savage
They call themselves
Knucklehedz and they take their name seriously. They're Steve Austin and
Tom ÒThe SavageÓ J., Long Island-bred friends of Erick Sermon and Parrish
Smith (EPMD). Both Sermon and Smith con tribute their production expertise
on Strictly Savage. No surprise, then, that the Knucklehedz' brand
of hardcore hiphop is, like Redman's, proudly EPMD-esque. When not
actually sampling EPMD, the duo cuts up other bass-heavy grooves over
which to spread inane rhymes ("'Cause since I was three/I coulda spotted
E.T./From a mile away/So they never caught me") and tough-guy rants ("Five
girls in the whole place/I know I'm gettin' one/Whichever gets drunk first
is as good as done"). Bags, bottles, girlies, cops and hoodies. Original
Recipe Knucklehedz = "stupid," as in "not very smart." (Carrie
McLaren)
