About iDud

IDud aims to call attention to the diminishing lifespan of consumer electronics and its impact on our wallets, our environment, and our sanity. This campaign focusses on the iPod because the iPod is the market leader in mp3 players and is widely praised for its design. The volume of iPods that Apple sells means it has a much greater impact on consumers and the environment than other players.

IDud is brought to you by Stay Free! magazine, a nonprofit, Brooklyn-based magazine that looks critically at consumer culture. We are funded by small, individual donors and do not receive money from large companies or foundations.

The iDUD TEAM: Produced by Carrie McLaren and Jason Torchinsky. Video game programming by Jon Nielsen. Copyediting by Phoebe Connelly, with Charles Star as our in-house-critic. The image of the iPod woman was adapted from a Green My Apple poster by Brian Fitzgerald, itself adapted from an iPod advertisement.
