Mail Fraud
When the post office decided to put popular musicians on stamps, it went
without saying they'd have to cover for those artists not befitting
national heroes. The Robert Johnson example -- wherein the cigarette
dangling from the blues guitarist's mouth is surreptiously removed -- has
received coverage in the mainstream media. However, the press has
apparently slept on the whitewashing done to other subjects of stamps.
Through an inside sourse, Stay Free! was able to uncover original,
uncensored pictures of some of these performers. By clicking on the
stamps below, you can see them for yourselves...but, let me tell you,
they're not pretty.
